Ideal Elan RS55

Hi lads, some help with this one would be good, I've been doing plumbing for so long and moved onto heating now.. OK problem is,

IDEAL ELAN RS55 ( very old )

- Pilot light does NOT stay on, holding in grey button gas valve + igniting. Released grey button, goes out.

Is this simply a thermocouple?

Would would you do first? Replace thermocouple? Would I just go into merchant and buy a thermocouple for this boiler??

One other quick thought, I can't remember these boilers to well, but check the thermocouple is not in series with the overheat stat and if so that the overheat has not tripped.

What does a tripped overheat stat look like, and how do you untrip?

If you've got one on this boiler then you would have to check the continuity across the stat or the wires from it.
