Right then techy. I've been asked to go to the above. Fault is hot going hot and cold as per usual plate HE blocked.

The strange thing, to me anyway, is that it only does this when taps or shower are turned on full blast.

When running slowly doesn't fault. I can't seem to get my head round this and I always like to know where to look before I get there.

What do yo reckon?

HE or standard??

1 PCB or 2 mate

Is bypass pipe clear, is G/V opening fully at full modulation?

On these safety stat cuts power to gas valve - but its intermittant rite??
With these flow switches, and bit of sludge can be issue - A lot of people change electric part and dont change mechanical part - ya see the filter and float can get clogged up, and it doesnt always make, therefore doesnt always prove - you know the score - crap is never good in a system, Im sure the boiler would benefit from a full clean, but system water always has a tendancy to cause faults!

Bypass pipe running behind PHEX is prob sludged up - but without ya being there and looking at certain things then its hard to say!

If its SE then its gonna be 2 pcbs - does it go to lockout at all, and is CH working fine or is it just DHW affected?

Has flow rate been checked?

As this is a 28 kW its quite normal for them to seem to work OK on a smaller DHW flow rate.

The standard simple check for a blocked plate is the temp gauge going up past 65°.

But a more definate test is to measure the temp differential across the plate. It should not exceed about 15°C.

Can you post what you found, and be truthful whether it was boiler fault or system related....

Will do, but I've got to find the time to get there yet. Only just got in from todays work and being on a house roof at 18:00 tonight in the freezing dark clearing a condensate frozen pipe

Must say I respect you lot for all hours ya do, I have family members in trade and Ive known them not to get home until gone 11pm at night!!
