Not mine, an old chap i know.
Symptoms are boiler working this morning heating on,noticed room getting colder, rads not being heated. Has tank full of hot water.
Having had a look and listen if heating selected by advancing timer boiler fires up, runs for about 5 secs, faint click and burner turns off. Fan continues to run, no hot exhaust from flue. Any suggestions for a tide me over fix til the boiler man can come tomorrow?

Does the pump run.

this is a heat only boiler , so check if the pump works , has the system got water in it , have all the bleed valves been bled to check for air ?????

Thanks for replies. System has water. Bleed air from where, system, boiler, rads?

Pump feels as running with hand on casing. Pump cunningly concealed behind hwsv. Any other quick way to check if operating?


Boiler FF50 fanned flue.

Usually if it fire up for a couple of seconds ie the red light comes on the front briefly then goes out it means the heat exchanger is blocked and it needs a good service, if it doesn't ignite suspect the spark generator has done its time...no quick fix though.

i reckon its the gas valve. theres an easy way to check if you want to.
