Wanting to improve our loft insulation. It is currently very haphazard. Old house with random amounts of rockwool shoved on top of another layer which looks like black paper enclosing a thin layer of white fibres, making a sandwich that is stiched together.
We want to remove that layer which is very deteriorated in places and also draped badly across the joists with lots of air gaps underneath, and replace it with new insulation which will do the job a lot better.
The question is - what is it? Is there any chance of it being something sinister like asbestos?? (Better safe that sorry)
Many thanks
