identifying a fault

Thanks for the reply, and yes I am telling you exactly how things are. Any other ideas, I checked with SWALEC and they said if there was insufficient power to my meter the lights would be dimmer or flicker, so they said it was something internal. Why do things work in another house and not in mine!!
 
Like I said, the circuit supplying the sockets need investigating.
If this is a ring, then if there was a poor (high resistance) connection in the circuit the other leg would supply at the correct voltage. But if this is supplied by a radial then there is the posibility that there is a loose connection.
Get it checked.
