We have just bought two sets of IKEA downlighters (under unit) they go by the exotic name of TRETTIO. They are surfaced mounted with a transformer and plug fitted (fused 3amp).

1/ With no instructions whatsoever where does the transformer need to
be mounted. its about 75mm X 25mm X 25mm

2/ Can the plug be taken off and power taken from the lighting or socket circuits suitably protected by 3amp FCU.

Thanks

Transformer goes wherever you can hide it but you'll be limited by whatever length of cable the Swedes have granted you.

Its obviously designed to have its (moulded) plug with a 3A fuse to go into regular 13A socket. Assuming its just a plug, you could cut it off and connect the cable into a 3amp fcu or directly into a lighting circuit.

No different to installing separate transformers & lights.
