I've built some Ikea Besta units.

For the hinges and push opening, I should have used this:

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/besta-soft-closing-push-open-hinge-80261258/

That's pretty expensive.

For the hinges... I bought a pack of 50 from Amazon - for about £27.
They've been perfect.
+ The Ikea ones have super bad rating from people who complain the screws were tooo big and had to be forces into the holes (or something to that effect) - comment made by quite a few.
I've experienced myself.

I still need to fit the push openers. Everything else is built.
I've bought - just need to fit!

But now I'm thinking... maybe I should save some money and buy from Amazon or ebay?
I can save about £25 compared to buying JUST the push openers.
This is the one from Ikea:

I don't mind paying for quality - but Ikea are ripping customers off.
Hinges... you can buy for other Ikea cupboard models - EXACT same... but a fraction of the cost... BUT the spacing of the holes is different, so you can't use with Besta frames.

I don't like being ripped off like that. :(
Or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Never had a problem with IKEA furniture or screws being to big, my whole house is virtually IKEA, right price and much better quality than the likes of Argos, range etc, price is usually cheaper than those aswell.

Anyway I have the Beata units and have the push open drawers works well.

I have a door in the middle for my amp, and tbh I don't use the push open I just pull it open from the side,

From your options I'd just go with the push open and save the money, it won't slam as the push button stops it

See the pic below:

Left side is one I bought from ebay.
I don't have enough.
Almost identical.

Ikea one sticks out a little more.
But no issue - you can increase the end by unscrewing - it's part of the design.

Ikea one is a little stronger.

The ONLY problem I have is that the Ikea one has a plastic tip.
The ebay one (and ALL others sold on ebay and Amazon - all the SAME - have a metal magnet tip).
Just concerned if over time the metal might do damage?
That's the ONLY doubt I have!

EDIT: SERIOUS problem!!!
The damn thing causes the door to bounce when you open.
The Ikea one is stronger - and therefore bounces much more!!!

I noticed after looking that the Besta push open is slightly different - it has a plastic thing with drilled holes.
Not a big problem - I've tested on one door by drilling and extra hole.
Otherwise looks the same.

I've just seen a youtube. It's designed to bounce!!!! I can swear that when I've been to Ikea a zillion times, I never noticed this bounce. :(
Grrr!

QUESTION: does your Besta door bounce when pushed open???
