I have an empty bedroom, that has just been plastered.
No Skirting boards, no laminate floor down yet.

We want to go with IKEA PAX Wardrobes.

Should I be thinking of these as built in wardrobes? Or should I just lay the floor, put the skirtings on and then assemble the wardrobes?

I would lay the laminate first. This will allow you to move the wardrobe should you ever want to, and ,perhaps more importantly, it will not require a gap in the laminate (for expansion) around the wardrobe. Instead the expansion gap will be by the wall and then covered by skirting.

Ye - the whole mess of needing the expansion and having no skirting was worrying me there - I am going to look at the PAX units in store over the weekend, but didnt think the finish on them would allow for skirting.

Obviously you could just not put skirting behind the wardrobe. The laminate expansion gap would simply be covered by it.

We did that too. Ikea mirrored doors on 3x2 timber frames.

Makes my bum look big!!
