Hi All,

My immersion heater in hotpress is gone for third time in six months time,i dont know whats is the reason behind that, i tried several plumbers but no one was able to solve my problem, the water is eating up the solder of the element and water enter the circuit and the thermostat and blows off, in the first time insulation on the tank got fire ,thanks to God my alarm was on.

I have given water for testing as well, but every thing is ok.

Can any one suggest any solution ?

Reji, have you got a stainless cylinder?

Not putting in the correct type of element?

Tony

Hi Agile,
No MY cylinder is made of copper(looks red in colour)and immersion element is also same material.

Are you in an area with acidic water from the peat?

It might be an idea to fit a neutralising filter!

Tony

HI TONY
I LIVE IN AN ESTATE AND THE WATER SUPPLY IS FROM COUNTY COUNCIL,I ONLY HAVE THE PROBLEM, MY NEIGHBORS ARE HAPPY WITH THE HEATER.

You may well have an electrical earthing fault!

When was it last checked?

Do you have an earth bond on the gas supply and water supply pipe?

Tony

TONY,

HOW WILL I FIND IF THERE IS ANY EARTH PROBLEM,I CAN FIND EARTH WIRE ATTACHED TO THE PIPES ,LAST DAY I CHECKED IT IF IT IS LOOSE OR TIGHT,I FIND IT OK. ANY OTHER OPTION TO CHECK IT.

You can visually check earthing is in the cvorrect places.

Then a continunity test to ensure its low resistance.

Lastly a clamp on meter reading down to 1 mA to see if leakage current is flowing.

Also measure the resistance between body of immersion and the cylinder! Is the installer putting PTFE tape on the element?
