immersion heater

hi. there is power getting to my immersion heater but i`m not getting any hot water. do you think the element may have gone and if so is it an easy job to replace.

Regarding the likelihood of the element being faulty, it's at least equally likely to be the thermostat. See if the thermostat clicks when you rotate the dial. If it does, then remove the cover, taking care with the live terminals, and test whether or not the live supply emerges from the other side of the 'stat. Thermostat replacement is incredibly cheap and easy, but don't forget to turn off the electrical supply first.

IH replacement is not complicated, but there are risks. For example, about 1% of attempts don't succeed owing to a corroded and weakened cylinder boss and/or a stubborn element arising from lack of care during installation.
