Immersion heaters

I still get conflicting information about installing domestic 3kw immersion heaters.

The way I do it is to run it off a 16a breaker, in 2.5mm cable, to a 13a Switched FUSED connection unit, and then with immersion flex to the heater itself.

Some people say that the fuse is a bit overkill, and say just use a double pole switch instead - what is right?

if the cuircuit is on a 16A breaker the fuse isn't really needed

but it doesn't cause any problems either

i think most sparkys just do what they were shown when they were learning

Always taught at college to use 16amp breaker, 20amp DP switch.

Regs dont give any info to that sort of thing, but thats the way i do it.
