Immersion Help!

Any help will be much appreciated. Water heater was heating the wter absolutely boiling so I replaced both rod stats. Now the top stat (the boost) is working fine, when power goes to it it starts heating up, making a noise similar to a kettle boiling but not as loud but when the off peak comes on it's not very warm, doesn't sound like it's heating and make more of a quiet whistling noise as if it's struggling to heat?! Is there any chance it could be more of a plumbing problem now?!

Get an engineer to do a load test on the element using a clamp meter- the element should be pulling around 11-12amps if not it is likely that the element is faulty this can be confirmed after checking the new thermostat for continuity and ensuring 230vac between L & N and L & E there should be <1vac between N & E if these tests are OK it is likely that the element needs replacing

Thanks for your help. It's very strange as I'm getting continuity between the terminals in the immersion around about 20 ohms so I'd imagine it's ok but maybe not!

Drain down and fit 2 new immersions, also fit a new rubber in drain cock.

Titanium immersions are the best you can get!
