Hi everyone.
I have a Parkray which we use all winter which heats the house and gives us lots of very hot water. In summer we have an immersion heater. I've just put the immersion on for the first time this year and it's not working. I'm guessing I'll have to replace the thermostat or the whole element. The thing that is puzzling me is why it was working fine before we used the solid fuel for the winter and now it's not. This isn't the first time this has happened, we had to have the whole tank replaced the first time (it was full of limescale) and then had to replace the element in 2008. Could it be that the water in the tank gets so hot when the Parkray is in use that it causes the thermostat in the immersion to fail, is that possible? Or is it just the life of these elements isn't as long as I expect? Maybe four years is about right! It just seems odd that it always seems to be borked when it's switched on again for the first time after the winter rather than just going at a random time.
Any explanations would be great, maybe I can get an idea of how to stop it happening! I just hope that it's just the thermostat this time as I don't want the faff of replacing the whole element!
