Vented systems, my word you are prehistoric, vented system sludge up, they ingress air and are unreliable

In your world they probably do.

You have answered your own argument, it only takes an inferior installation to make one dangerous,

And the fact that safety devices can fail through time. Did I mention that. OOps silly me. :(

this applies to vented or unvented,

A vented system has no requirement to have registered specialist installers installing them and no annual service. Thats a plus in my book.
Unvented does and the numptys and unregistered are installing them wholesale.

but the only ones I am aware of are vented systems that have been installed poorly that have become dangerous,

Cylinders and tanks. Yes I know , I have them in my home.
A heat bank would cure my problem though.

I am not aware of any unvented cylinders being dangerous through poor installation and neither are you,

They are numerous. An Australian couple were killed recently when the blast knocked the walls out and the concrete bison slabs fell on top of them. Very sad.

otherwise you would be able to point us in the direction of the proof, something that you and drivel have failed to do.

Its been happening through out the world for years and people end up injured or killed.

But you cannot point me in the direction of any instamces of exploding unvented cylinders in the UK, we have more safety devices than any other country, and we have had no such instances because of this
Vented thermal store sludge up all the time, it is common, and this does not happen in my world as I only fit unvented thermal stores

How on earth is the OP supposed to make an informed decision about what will suit his needs with all this arguing going on? If people explained the pro's and con's of their preferred options and stuck to FACTS then maybe, just maybe the guy could assess his options.

At the moment this forum is a shambles. People are quoting other peoples posts and adjusting it to read out of context, some are contradicting themselves in the same post. Some only see fit to start hurling insults. The Moderator is working overtime to amend and/or delete unsuitable posts. It is an embarassment to the profession.

It is a sealed thermal store, but would you and Drivel consider these as dangerous as they have the same capability to explode as an unvented cylinder, in fact it has more risk, it has less safety devices as it does not come under G3

They are treated like a large pipe in a sealed CH system. They have a normal 3 bar pressure discharge valve, not 6 or 7. Coupled with a system boiler there will be two discharge valves on the system, about the same as an unvented cylinder. They are only charged to 1 bar, atmospheric pressure.

If an immersion runs wild in one and the safety device fails they can explode as it is a sealed device. It will take a while though as the pressure has to work its way into the boiler and rads. Th weakest part will blow first, probably the rad valves, auto air vent or the pressure sphere. In a Megalflow with an external sphere this will not happen and the thing will do what the videos show...kaboooom and the house is down.

Please refrain from calling me an idiot, you do not even know me, it is nothing to do with scoring points, its about trying to stop drivel and yourself stopping your scarmogering about unvented cylinders, if you simply added your opinion of using a thermal store or a combi no one would have a problem, but its when you tell the public not to use unvented because they can explode and about having bodies strewn about, is a bit much, this has never happened and you can never give any factual proof, so try posting your opinion without the scaremongering and we would all get along a lot better
