Can anyone sugest an infared beam detector.

It is for outside use.

Transmitter and receiver need to be able to sit within the space of a house brick.

Only needs an output to sound a bell or such.

Beam distance is only 4 meters.

Would prefer hard wired over wireless.

Thanks in advance.

Just a little advise.

Don't use a single beam outside, too prone to false activations, twin beams the best.

Height is a major factor, got to be just right, so the average dog can break the lowest but not the top, both have to be broken at the same time.

I'd assume this is for a local warning, great idea, don't connect to an alarm system.

ps

Have a look here, one of the best makes around.

Read about sighting false alarms etc, will help you decide which way to go.

Don't worry too much about using a beam that is designed for a greater distance than your needs, if set up correctly, it will be more stable.
