I have made some new window trims to go in the external reveal. The blockwork only extends about 35mm beyond the window frame, and when I screwed into the new plasplugs several of the holes cracked the blocks and spalled off.

I have seen plastic resin injection systems but never used them. Would that be the right thing to use? If I do a dozen holes, will the stuff in the tube then go off, or can I keep it for later? I also have some battens that are positioned so I have to screw into crumbly mortar (very low loading), so would like to use the same stuff there.

I will want to be able to put a screw into it.

Are there any tricks to doing a good job? Times are hard so I am reluctant to shell out for anything much.
