Is there anyway to reduce noise levels for inline fan with solid ducting?

It is quite Loud on medium setting manrose mf100t

inline fans do not produce much noise - where is the sound actually coming from?

That sounds like the fan just sucking up air. Take the front of ceiling vent off and see what happens

Still same issue.

Would it be quieter with flexible duct?

From vent to fan it's solid duct and from fan to vent it's flexible.

I agree with Murdochchat in-line fans are normally quiet. If you put your hand on the fan or the ducting while it's running can you feel excessive vibration, that could indicate a faulty fan. Is the air intake loose in the ceiling cladding. I would not think flexible ducting would make any difference. Moving the fan further away from the intake might improve it.

No vibration. I have two of the same fans and both do same. The only problem is I can't move them further due to lack of room. One fan has at least 500mm ducting either side and other has 500 and 400 on the fan to vent

Both fans have 12mm shock absorber pads on either side of 12mm ply and then screwed into joist

Nothing loose, I even taped up joints for extra measure

What’s the fan screwed to?

I glued a layer of 25mm foam to some plywood then screwed the fan to that so no mechanical fastenings to the house structure at all.

Are both the fans installed in the same way. If you hold a towel over the intake does the noise stop. If so then it is just the noise of the airflow and I don't think there will be much you can do about it. Unless you invest in one of these sort of products https://www.google.com/search?q=how...IEECEYFZgDAJIHBTMwLjE3oAeKtQI&sclient=gws-wiz , but I imagine quite expensive. Just seen this thread and similar ones at the bottom of the page perhaps you will get some ideas from them https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/quietening-in-line-fan-vent-noise.491045/

Fans screwed into the shock absorber and ply sandwich but not the joists.

The sandwich itself was screwed in the joist
