HI, I'm installing a new cooker and hob, replacing a stand alone cooker. The original cooker was on the nearside wall next to the cooker point, But the new hob will be in the middle of the room with the oven being on the far wall. I was planning on wiring the oven upto a 13amp fused spur off a socket, But I am uncertain about the twin hobs.
The hobs are 2 x 4 ring units, I'm not sure of the wattage until they get delivered, the breaker is 32 mcb run on 6mm cable. Do I have to up rate the mcb and cable to run them both of the same cable from the cooker point or do I have to have 2 seperate 32 amp mcb for each hob run on 6mm cable.
I would be greatful of any useful advise. Thanks, Honsow.

One thing I am certain of is that this is notifiable work.

How on earth can you have bought 2 hobs and not know what the specs are?

Anyway - to do the design work you can either wait until they are delivered, or do this:

Either.

Or go to the manufacturers web site and look up the spec. The installation instructions are sometimes there too that will tell you what feed is required.

But as BAS says, all electrical work in a kitchen is notifiable work. if you dont know what you are doing, get in a qualified spark.

And if you want to run both hobs from the same supply (circuit willing) then the hobs both have to be within 2m of the isolation switch.
