I AM TRYING TO INSTALL A NEW 3 BAR SPOTLIGHT BUT WHEN I TOOK OLD CEILING ROSE OFF I FOUND THAT IT DOESNT HAVE AN EARTH WHICH THIS NEW ONE DOES COULD YOU PLEASE ADVISE AS TO WHERE TO TAKE ONE FROM

stop SHOUTING (turn off your CAPS LOCK)

You have 3 options:

1. Take the light fitting back and purchase one which is double insulated.

2. Have your lighting circuit rewired to modern standards.

3. Do away with the wiring above this fitting (terminate it in such a way that the circuit maintains continuity to the other lights), and power the light fitting from a nearby socket, via a fused connection unit (provided the sockets have an earth).

In general, if you have lighting circuits without an earth, it is time to have the wiring inspected!
 
cant i take an earth from consumer unit & run it under floor to connect up to spotlight
 
If you are going to all that trouble then you may aswell rewire the light
