With positive head the pump is initiated by the gravity flow of water. In your situation you wouldn't get graivty flow as there is no difference in height between the shower head and the level of the water in the tank. The negative head pumps (you can get a kit for some pumps to convert them) switch the pump on and off by a ceiling pull-cord.
