Going to be moving into a new house soon.
Off the back of the house is what is described as a sun room. It is of brick built construction, to match the house. With patio doors to the side and to the front. It is topped with a felt roof.
Would it be possible to install a small log burner in there to aid with heating during the winter months, rather than going through the hassle of installing heating i.e plumbing in radiators or using electric heaters.

If so could it have its own little chimney? What would be required to fulfill regulations?

cheers

Providing your stove is below a certain Kw output you`ll not have to install air-bricks as per ventilation safety regs.Just make sure you adhere to regs regarding the distance required for the stove and the flue pipe and its exit through the wall or roof to be from combustible materials. You could fit a small spark arrester to flue top if you have combustibles outside in the vicinity of the flue exit?Smoke must not exit near a bedroom window especially....or any habitable room for that matter.

Exposed flues are a great way to convey more of the heat into a room and a stout black enamel or stainless pipe can look very smart.Don`t recommend galvanised pipes in the living space, for health reasons, although perhaps they could be painted with a safe heat-proof coating....there are many paint colours available if you want to get arty.

If you want to be extra safe invest in a carbon monoxide alarm.
