installing another light

I have recently split 1 large room into 1 via a stud wall. I now want to put a light in the second room with a switch. Am i right in saying that i run a cable from an existing ceiling rose to the new ceiling rose (does it have to be the last one on the lighting circuit run) and then run a cable from the new ceiling rose to a new switch, be be honest not really sure if i can get the feed from any ceiling rose or does it have to be the last ceiling rose on the lighting circuit run

You can take your feed from any other ceiling rose as long as the circuit is capable of carrying the extra load. See the wikki for circuit diagrams.
