Hello
I have recently had a new consumer unit installed and now i want to run in a new lighting circuit for downstairs.

Would i be best installing by the 'loop-in' method? I take it this refers to taking a cable from the CU to the first ceiling rose position and then looping to each ceiling rose in turn.

Once this is done do i have to take the cable back to the CU to terminate as for a ring main?

Am i right in thinking that from the ceiling rose i simply run a cable to the light switch?

This is a new installation and all cable and fitting are current spec.

The WIKI has most (if not all) of the answers you seek. It is common practice for lighting to be wired on a radial circuit, similar to a ring except the final fitting on the circuit does NOT return to the consumer unit.
