So Shower 9.5Kw Cable run 3 meters

Required Cable Size 10 mm2
Voltage Drop 5.57 Volts.
Percentage Drop 2.3%
Current Load 39.6 Amps
Max Cable Load 46.4 Amp

Setting everything else aside for a minute, are you sure the existing cable is 10mm - how are you measuring it?

conductor size 8 AWG
area 10.385 mm^2 (square-mm)
diameter 4.200 mm (1)

construction: stranded

I used a calculator after measuring the diameter with a vernier gauge.

8 AWG?

What kind of cable is that?

Is it approved for fixed wiring in the UK?

Oh - and 8 AWG is not 10mm².

The RCD works by detecting a difference in the currents flowing in the neutral wire and the live wire. If there is no earth leakage current then these currents are the same and the RCD doesn't trip.

So the neutral wire has to go through the RCD as well. Hence it has four terminals.

The fact that you did not know that is a clear sign that you have yet to learn all that is needed to install the supply to the shower in a way that is safe.

Please take the advice and get this work done by an electrician.

That cable in the existing switch fuse is 6mm csa or equivalent. Depending on how it is installed along it's length it may not be anywhere near suitable for your application i'm affraid.

If you connect the RCD/MCB as you have drawn it will not function

Have you got main equipotential bonding installed?
Are the other circuits in the bathroom (lighting ect) RCD protected?

That's a 6.0mm² outgoing cable.

The unit you propose to fit is inappropriate for your cable, and is a dangerous fire risk.

This is why you were told to get an electricain. It's not because we want to smartarses or whatever else you think.
