HI, HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME!

I am in the process of installing a pair of deck valves which connect to a single outlet in the bath filler. Given that the outlet is a single outlet i need to combine the hot and the cold feed together.

Can i join them together anywhere between the tap and the bath outlet? and what size pipe would you use?

Thanks in advance for your help

What make are they?

Where did you buy these?

Why did you buy these?

Did they not come with installation instructions?

If the answer to any one or more of those questions is "I don't know", then throw away what you've bought and get something sensible instead.

1) Villeroy & Boch
2) Bathroom shop in Coventry
3) They look very nice / i will ask the wife?
4) No instructions and technical help was useless. I dont think they appreciated the issue!
5) Cannot throw them away they cost £150 per valve!!!

Cheers

Well, V&B is generally quality stuff, but can you post some pictures of the bits that you've bought, or, better still, find a web site that illustrates them?

OK, I think I'm getting it now.

The last one I installed like this (different make) has, as you say, 3/4" BSP male connections on the filler. I connected to these with 3/4" BSP female fittings, but you can use a tap connector on each if the end of the spigot is suitable.

Clearly (to me) you need to pipe between the taps and the two connections on the inlet/mixer thing. I wouldn't expect you to have to join these two pipes before they connect to the filler.

The tap tails on the ones I fitted were probably also 3/4" BSP males, so it's easy enough to use tap connectors; again, subject to the mating ends of the tails being clean.

If you ask some specific questions about the things you're unsure of, then I'm sure I (or we) can answer them.

How soon can i connect the hot and the cold water supply on the outflow side of the deck valves? i didnt know whether there was a regulation / bylaw or something?

Cheers

How soon? Do you mean like today or tomorrow, or 3pm?

Sorry a little unclear!

how close to the deck valves on the outlow side can i connect the hot and the cold supplies together? within 100mm? or could i connect the hot and cold together as close to the valves as possible?

Hope this is clear

I'm not sure why you want to connect them together, but there's no minimum distance.

Doesn't the filler have two connections on it?

No thats the problem, the filler only has 1 connector so the water is both hot and cold when it goes in to the filler.

Given this i need to join the hot outflow with the cold outflow from the deck valves and was wondering how close to the valves i could mix the supplies.

Bingo

Well that's a bit bizarre. I'd go for the most convenient position of the tee, and as much of it possible in 22mm.

It is very strange, the outlet would normally mix the supply but in this instance you have to merge the supplies via the pipwork!!!

I assume that the cold supply will not interfer with the hot supply as both will take the path of least resistance??

Well, now I have to ask you if you have balanced supplies, or whether either of them is at mains pressure or either is pumped.
