Hi,
I noticed some cracks on the front of my g/f house at the edge of the bay windows. Most the house in the street have the same problem so I cleared the crack and filled (following advice on this forum). The cracks were quite big and I noticed nothing being them and I could see the back of the plaster board!! This explains why it was so cold... Since filling the cracks it is warmer and quiet. I wasn't able to fill in about 1cm at the top under the window ledge as I couldn't fold back the lead sheilding fully. I'll try to do this from the inside once its fully cleared. The wall and room are still cold, they get damp but its condesation, the window above suffers badly.
Anyway today I've taken off some of the plaster board to confirm nothing exists between the front render and plaster board. The gap is about 75mm and is clear from the double glazed window down to ground floor window!
The photo's below aren't mine but its exactly the same wooden frame bay. Thought the material backing the outer render is a black felt type material, this string ribbing making a small squared pattern (sorry not sure of its name). The house is from the 1950's, not much has been done to keep it up together other than double glazing about 15 years ago.

A bit of googling and I found this guide from Basildon Council
http://www.basildon.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=1284&p=0
It has some sample cross sections for insulating external walls which seemed like a good starting point.
How best do I fill the gap ? Celotex GA4500 comes in 75mm so would fill the gap well. The guide on the Celotex and Basildon talk about a varpour sheild / varpour barrier. I'm confused by what I've read online about this part. This is just a polythene sheet but I what do you do at the edges ?
Also the gap below the floor boards seems to be narrower, I've not got the skirting boards out the way yet to measure exactly. Will it be ok to use thinner celotex in the gap and then stack thicker about it ?
Many thanks...and advice welcome
