I will soon be renovating a bedroom from top to bottom and was wondering if there would be much benefit in insulating the living room ceiling void whilst I have the floorboards up above.

I'm thinking in terms of savings on heat loss into what is a rarely used room...except for sleeping :D

Don't really see the point of insulating a ground floor ceiling, as long as your loft is properly insulated it will retain the heat required.

I don't think it would be worth it either.

Plus there are usually cables in that void and having insulation around the cables has an effect on cable sizing calculations. I'm not saying you would need bigger cables, but that the design of what you have would not have allowed for insulation.

Probably better to invest more in the loft if anywhere.

If you have a radiater in the room turn it down or off!

Unless your planning on putting laminate flooring up there, then the insulation may help with the noise of it.
