Insulating Garage wall

Firstly, I think I may have asked this before, but I couldn't find the answer.

The situation is this, we have an integral garage in our house, the wall between the garage and the hallway is one brick thick, and subsequently is a bit cold.

What I intend to do is build a wooden "frame", a bit like a stud wall, insulate with some spare rock wool that I have, then board over with either Aqua Panel or fire resistant plaster board.

What I am a bit unsure about is do I need a incorporate a vapour barrier, and if so where should it go. My guess is that it should behind the insulation, but what about providing ventilation etc? Also, should there be a gap between the wall and the vapour barrier? Should there be a gap between the vapour barrier and the insulation?

Eg.

xx | 8 b
xx | 8 b
House xx | 8 b Garage
xx | 8 b
xx | 8 b
xx | 8 b

Should there be a gap here?

Where x is the wall between the House and garage, | is a vapour barrier, 8 is the insulation and b is either aqua panel or plaster board.

Sorry about the lousy diagram.

Thanks for the reply. So where I've said then? What about ventilation?

I doubt if you will have a real problem with moisture here so I wouldn't worry too much about ventilation. You can treat the battens to be safe.
