Insulating wall - how?

Extension on side of house, part garage and part downstairs loo divided by a single skin block wall. The downstairs loo bit is accessible from the house and it's always freezing in there.

Looking to insulate the wall somehow. First thought is to fix some studs to the garage side and pack with insulation board (guess 75mm), taping joints with some foil tape. Suspect this will leave me with cold bridges where the studs are. Also concerned that I'll end up with a damp problem.

What's the normal approach for this kind of work?

Usually a vapour barrier would go on first such as a layer of Visqueen but if you really want to be sure you could fit a layer of 1" Jablite on the wall then fix your studs over it using 4" screws so the lats aren't in contact with the blocks. Then infill with your insulation between and tape the joints.
