Would some form of insulation keep a metal shed cool in the summer and keep the frost out in the winter? If so what thickness and how does one stick it to the metal?
insulation will not keep the frost out it simply slows down the transfer off heat and cold
so iff the average temperature outside is say -6 over day and night without heat input that will be the average inside but varying less day and night
Insulation does not add or remove heat. It just slows the speed of heat transfer.
So by shading and insulating the roof you can slow solar gain in summer
If you want it to be frost-free in winter, you sill have to add heating, but good insulation and draught protection will reduce running costs. You also need to control damp.
the exact opposite
thinner less efficient the insulation the quicker its effected by heat or cold
thicker more efficient the insulation is at slowing down the effect off transfer off heat or cold
or in more simplistic terms you heat a room with a door open it is less insulate so needs more heat to warm it up
close the door its better insulated and heats up quicker but it still need a heat input to stop it dropping to outside temperatures
