Hi Guys. Am Renovating a 150 year old farmhouse with solid 9" Walls.

Best / most cost effective option out of:-
1. 35mm battens, super foil bubble, 35mm batten then plasterboard
2. 60mm battens, glass fibre insullation (e.g. Rockwell), then plasterboard
3. Dabbed foil backed 30mm plasterboards.

Any thoughts/ alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You may find battens with rigid insulation (Kingspan or similar) between then plasterboard on top will be cheaper than insulated board.

The Rockwool solution will provide poor insulation and will not meet regs if you need to achieve that or are rumbled by BC.

I'd be surprised if the foil bubble solution would be economical, if it is then go for that.

Fibre-wool insulation will provide 60 % of the insulation value of Kingspan for probably 10% of the cost ( look for subsidised rolls).

I don't believe the claims of foil and bubble manufacturers.
