Insurance

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.

We have recently built a house, which is now liveable. However it is not finished and we're someway from being able to get it signed off as we are at the end of our budget so cannot finish off the drive and parking area and still a couple of small electrical jobs to do.
We obviously had site insurance but now we are living in there full time with all our belongings. Does anyone know companies that offer buildings and contents insurance without it being signed off?

Ask the company / broker who arranged the site insurance. They might be prepared to insure the house and contents or if not they should be able to advise where to go. Home and contents insurance doesn't have to be a well known company.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I was referring to Building Control. On our planning permission we stupidly put we would tarmac the drive, which is going to cost about £10k!!
We have to put in disabled access from parking area to front door as well to comply with building regulations.
Do you think we could get away with not doing the driveway then?

Yes you can not do the drive, unless they made it a condition that the driveway must be competed before occupation then you needn't ever finish it. There's no completion certificate for planning, only for building regs (which I assume is why you need the ramped access.
If you want to do the drive another way, if it's non permeable you might need planning permission, but to be honest if they approved tarmac just don't give them a reason to enforce (ie don't use something incongruous) and it should be fine.
