Integrated appliance support panels

Hello!

Just planning my kitchen at the moment, and have a question about integrated appliance support panels.
B&Q designed the kitchen and put support panels either side of the dishwasher. They said it gives stability but isn't necessary.

Can you see a reason to have them seeing that there is two rigid cupboards either side of the dishwasher? It just seems to add expensive and doesnt look as smooth.

Does not need support but you need something for the appliance door to close against, bit of matching carcase material would do.
If the kickstand is to run through under appliance then end panels would get in the way. Depends how it's designed.

Not entirely sure what you mean @foxhole. The dishwasher door is the same width and height of the dishwasher. The usual 600mm wide.

Not needed or wanted, they are only there to increase the profits of the kitchen supplier.

Appliances usually fit in a 600mm carcase with internal dimensions of around 596mm the alliance being a few mm under this.

Integrated dishwashers and washing machines do not fit into anything, they are floor standing and just need a space between two units. Door is fixed directly to the appliance.

You don't strictly need the end panels, but in my opinion they will make a nicer job. It gives the end of the 2 units 'closure', and means the kickboard can but butt in to them.

How is having 2 breaks in what would otherwise be a continuous plinth and an 18mm gap on either side of the appliance door a 'nicer job' ?

As you have 2 supporting cupboards, you do not need support panels.

They are only for longer runs of integrated units.
