Interceptor trap rodding hole cap replacement

There is a way to plug the rodding hole - not using a test plug, but I don't want ree to abuse me so I'm keeping quiet for now. But you mention 2 manhole covers - what's the second one do ?
It's just another inspection chamber where a few branches converge. C'mon, spill the beans

get a Mc Alpine DC 1 and put a plug in it . Then arrange a rope or chain connected to the setup , hang the free end on a hook screwed into the manhole near the lid. If it blocks fully you can tug the "plug" you've made (y) (y)

Just wanted to pass on my thanks for this suggestion. Finally got around to plugging the hole yesterday as per your suggestion.

I'd been doing some work in a bedroom with a window nearest the stack vent and it was a warm day so the window was wide open. I kept getting a waft of sewer gas in the breeze and decided enough was enough. Opened up the manhole, all clean and clear, waste flowing nicely as it should, but a definite waft which did reduce after dispersing in the fresh air. Manholes were clearly invented when people were slimmer or child labour was employed, 'cos I struggled to fit my frame in and my arms aren't quite long enough to reach in from ground level. Bit of a tight fit for the push fit connector but got there in the end with the help of washing up liquid and managed to push it home with my foot. Not noticed any pongs whatsoever today.
