Hi all,

My son recently bought his first flat and we are looking to exchange the handles and hopefully the lock set up. It seems as though the previous tenant had locks on all the doors. Id like to know if it is possible to get a lock case that will fit in this 150 x 25 seating. Basically just want to put a normal case on with the long plate as per a normal door so it just catches the strikeplate/ latch. I know they are a bit of a mess but my son doesn't want to have to buy new doors as apart from this they are in really good nick.

Any suggestions.

I think a typical bathroom lock would fit that. For example, Screwfix 788PX claims a “plate height” of 155mm. Then fit normal handles without the bathroom lock knob.

Because I would like to just fit normal tubular latches and wanted know if there was a backplate you can buy that can accommodate the latch.

I'm sure there will be. I would suggest looking for a specialist lock retailer online and they will be able to help you.

You would need to fill the hole with timber and start again to use a standard latch .
