Hi came to change a light switch but the old one has a different type of switch see pic. I believe this is for like a hall way with 3 switches yet there is only one light switch in this room. I believe there may have been a pull cord a while ago but still doesn’t explain why this switch is fitted, should I buy the same switch or use a normal one way switch

You will need a two-way switch, won't you? . One-way has only two terminals.

Wire in the same triangle formation and don't mix up the reds.

If there really is no other switch in use then a 1 way can be used, connected to the red on its own and one of the other wires, that will have to be established by testing and the spare wire will need to be made safe by placing it in a connector etc
