Hi all,

I have a flat roof which has some insulation built in but I as I am redecorating the room below I would like to take the opportunity to add some more internally if possible. I don't want to disturb the plasterboard and I was wondering if I could attach 25mm Celotex directly to the existing ceiling and then a layer of plasterboard to create a new lower ceiling ? I'm a bit worried about securing it all but if I can identify where the joists run then I can attach the board throught those.

Any thoughts would be appreciated !

Thanks,

Andy.

no problem. just make sure you have long enough fixings, with an adequate head size.

also, don't lay the plasterboard in-line with the insulation, you need to bond over or stagger the joins.
