I'm fitting some standard door liner kits (the type morticed for both 27" and 30").

Silly question but what should the height be from bare floorboards to the underside of the head?

They come in at 2005mm which I'm assuming needs trimming as standard doors are 1981mm. How much clearance should I leave top and bottom?

Always used to make it 78½" (1994mm)... that's 3mm at the head, & 10mm below - but if it's for yourself, work out exactly the thickness of the floor covering. You wouldn't want 10mm at the floor if you're putting Cushionfloor down. If it's carpet, allow the total thickness + 3mm, plus the 3mm at the head. You could make the head gap a little less if you felt like being fussy.
