The issue is that a Parliamentary panel, at a centre of 'democracy/ justice/ fairness etc' which should be carrying out an impartial investigation of a Government Minister, has already determined the outcome and the penalties to be imposed.

Parliament doesn't operate as a court of law. Pretending it is is just stupid. It doesn't have to and expecting it to do so is a bit late in the game.

Sure, seen to be fair is true. But we aren't going to have another legal investigation, there was no (additional) crime this time. He was already found guilty. This is a workplace investigation to see if he committed a gross misconduct when he mislead the house. That needs to be run according to the rules in place. Why does he think he's special?

The Opinion has nothing to do with it and offers nothing new, except that Boris has wanted £129,000 of taxpayer money to give himself some headlines in sympathetic newspapers.

At the least he should be being taxed for this as a benefit in kind.
