You could replace "help" with "grief". Just as accurate.

Aw, come on Oilman, I gave you grief earlier on and you haven't even risen to the bait. Shape up, man.

You're also being too hard on traineegasman. The bloke was a plonker but at least he had a sense of humour and understood the art of self-deprecation.

I never realised that I have such a fascinating personality - this has been such an education. Thanks ladies!

Bring it on oilman - although we already know you don't have the stamina.

And while you're trying to decide how many asterisks you should use, you may wish to read this posting and consult your amateur psychology book again.

Was that what it was?

What is Softus on about? Either I've lost it or he has.

Oilman: Sorry if the grief wasn't hard enough. When it comes to you, I can't think of anything harder. :D

What's he on about? Either I've lost it or Softus has.

What?! And with your finely honed forum searching skills?

I dont know why Softus, next posting, thinks that I am TRYING to mislead people. Why on earth would I ever want to intentionally mislead anyone.
Nope - never said that. Your original posting, i.e. before you edited it, was misleading - after the edit it was not. Only you will know whether or not you were deliberately and/or knowingly misleading.

He also seems to think that I am trying to sell something!

Wrong again. I don't seem to think it, I actually think it and have said as much. If you stop doing it then I'll stop thinking it.

...I made what he saw as an unacceptable remark about the graunching fraternity who maintain that you need to do up compression joints so they neck the pipe (gorillas) on the pretext you need to do them up this tight to stop them comiing [sic.] apart under pressure.

No. You didn't. You're making it up as you go along, and you're a very naughty boy.

Oh softus, give it a rest! It's late and some of us need to sleep.

It's just that half the threads on this forum seem to have degenerated into softus bashing. If he really is an attention seeker, he must be enjoying this immensely....so maybe I shouldn't feel sorry for him?
Well, I want to thank him, I`ve been having Anger Management, professionally. And he has given me an insight to help me along. I must have been the first to rage@ his attitude and I`m slightly amused to see that, one by one others are getting sucked in..well, I`m over his attitude now and won`t be posting. Also I was fed up with the poor response from the people I`ve given sensible answers to, so I would have left anyway  Remember, folks this is CYBER diy not real hands on stuff     I did meet a real life softus face to face.and walked away, perhaps I should have slapped him  Quo Vadis et tu Brute
