Is 110v UK same as 110v US??

Might I suggest you ask the manufacturer.
Don`t tell them you are buying in US to use in UK as they might down it.
But tell them you will frequently use it in both countries.

correct me if Im wrong, but isnt UK 110V 55-0-55 relative to earth, and has no neutral as such, whereas US 110V is 110-0 relative to earth.
would this not make a difference?

Yes in an earth fault situation the voltage will be at a deemed safe level of 55v
The supply in the USA is 120volts not 110v
