Is a skimmed plasterboard wall waterproof

Hi. I am converting my attic into a bathroom, the walls are plaster board and they are already skimmed some time ago, there are holes in the walls which i will be getting patched. My concern is that my tiler is going to tile straight on to these walls in the shower area without using any form of waterproofer. I just wondered will the skim keep the water away from the plasterboard. Dont want any tiles coming off

No a skim coat is not waterproof Dave. Best to tank the walls for peace of mind.

If you wan't the job to last, tell your tiler you want it tanked before tiling.
