I installed a secondary return pump on a megaflow last year. Having bought a swept tee from BES at around 20 quid I was somewhat surprised to see it is only slightly different to a standard 22mm tee!

I can't really see there is any significant benefit to using a swept tee unless anyone can suggest otherwise. I doubt they make sod all difference in reality.

They make a lot of difference. If you have water coming in the side leg on an ordinary T, it would generate pressure in both of the pipes. If you have it coming the side of a swept T, it will increase pressure one side and reduce it the other so assisting the flow.

I'm going to stick my neck out and disagree with oilman. I can't see that the marginal amount of sweep on such tee branches would make that much difference - and what a ridiculous price! (What size was it?)

I can see that injector tees (which can be made up quite easily from standard fittings) have their uses, but these are a different animal to mere swept tees. It would be interesting to see manufacturer's data on pressure loss through swept tees and normal tees.

My twopenn`th.....not much difference in a copper fitting, quite a lot in iron fittings, more swept,
