I've just installed some tongue and groove and wainscotting in our bedroom and the walls were pretty badly out in some places, requiring a fair bit of packing behind some of the batoning. There are a couple of really bad bits , e.g. the external angle on one side of an old blocked off chimney breast, where the wainscotting is sitting around 15mm off the edge of the wall.
Obviously, the gaps in these places are far too big to use flexible fillers etc, so can they just be packed out with some cork strips first and will the filler adhere to them afterwards? I am a bit lost what to do if not.
