Hi installing a external socket in the garden using ipx6 rated all ok, i am going to come off a fused spare from the living room, not in use for anything, the ring it is connected to, is rcd protected all ok, been looking through the regs can't see anything wrong, but i am sparing of a spare (fused), i see it as a swith to the outside socket.
Can someone please confirm this ok regarding the regs?

Thanks Onesongrg

I take it that everywhere you wrote "spare" you meant "spur". Not taking the p*ss, but if you want to talk about a spare spur, it could get confusing..

But anyway - this spur really is spare - you say it's not being used, so in what way do you think that what you are doing is spurring off a spur? Sounds to me like you're just using an FCU the way it's meant to be used...

The ring is connect to the spur (as in two reds, two blacks), then it isn't a spur from a spur, (or a spur from spare  )

Thanks ban for you constructive critisim, ring main to fused SPUR to socket.

A single 2.5mm cable to the fused spur.

spur to socket (not allowed)
fsu to socket ?

Thanks

The UNfused spur from the ring is fine to the FCU. From the FCU onwards it is a FUSED spur, which again is fine.

The set up is A-Ok!

In summary Part P states that any works to provide electrical supply to 'wet rooms' or external to the property inc sheds etc. MUST be inspected or self certified.. BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN you can test it yourself! :P

Well thats my interpretation.. but who knows? :? :?
