my 17 yo valiant eco max plus is loosing pressure.

Over 10 days it drops from 1.5 to 0.8 bar. There is no water leak in the boiler currently. In December there was a leak under the boiler around the condensate outlet.

The prv is not being activated

The EV is new a year ago and pressured ok.

I’ve seen a vid on utube saying to isolate the boiler and pressure to 2 and see if the pressure drops over 24h. I will try do this.

I’ve taken a photo of the burner and it is yellow. Apparently it should be blue

Can this issue also happen if the secondary HE leaks or is it just on the main HE?

Can’t see the flame picture in that photo, just the usual orange glow from heating up the electrodes.

Not sure why folk on this forum keep thinking it’s ok to remove boiler covers when they could be putting themselves at risk.

Yes your main heat exchanger could be leaking, but I’d get it confirmed as a replacement or replacement boiler could be an expensive mistake.

Do you mean risk from CO poisoning?

There are 40 deaths per yr on average in the U.K.

Walking in central London puts you in more danger

If you want to take the risk of you and yours making up part of those statistics then fire away.

BTW table below is according to Office of Nat Stats and that's just England and Wales and that's just the deaths that they could identify as CO poisoning, they believe that the figure is probably much higher. That doesn't include the 4-5000 odd that are admitted to hospital with CO poisoning each year, that luckily don't die -
