Is this a double insulated light / does it need earthing?

Hi guys

Please see the pics below.

I thought the connections being in a white box and the black tubing meant this was a double insulated light and hence no earthing? However there is an earth wire connected on it and it has the earth symbol within the metal housing.

So I am guessing I need to earth this?

Just so I know in the future how can you tell?
The big clue is the earth tail connected to the metal of the fitting, then there is the earth symbol.

A double insulated fitting will have either class II printed on it or/and this symbol.


The vast majority of metallic fittings require to be connected to earth.
