is this a wasps nest hanging from my roof?

Hi guys

Have been boarding the loft today, and found these hanging in the roof.
Any ideas what these are? I'm thinking that they're probably small wasp nests, but would like some confirmation if poss.

And more importantly, does anyone have any suggestions for how I should remove them (without getting stung rather badly)?

I wonder if they're dead nests, was up in the roof all day and didn't notice any buzzing.

Yeah I think they are hornets nests we see them all the time, they look dead, all you need to do is vaccum them up with the vac using an extender pole.
We have a henry vac at work and do this when they are live!
