The grid switch is quite common, and you can select the dimmer you want, but with some exceptions, when you dim an LED bulb the colour temperature remains static, Philips did make some bulbs, where there were two LED's one high and one low colour temperature, so the bulb would emulate a tungsten bulb,
but to be frank not seen any for sale.

So in the main, to get the ambiance, you need smart bulbs, there are dimmer switches made, but not in the same way, often wireless.

The other problem is price, and the smart bulb has come down in price, the last one was £5 from poundland, so not sure worth using a dimmer switch any more.

Its gu10 bulbs above dinning table

It was GU10 bulbs I got from PoundLand. Think EverReady or something like that, and I found they work with the Smartlife app already installed. I have 4 in my kitchen, not sure why, as always seem to be full on, and as high as temperature as they will go, but wife wanted them.

It is handy when hands are full, to simply say hey google turn on/off kitchen lights, and it means the one command will turn on/off both under counter lights and ceiling lights, when from a completely different supply. And it also allows me to just turn on one lamp when making coffee, and in the main it is the ability to group, or divide lighting so we can just use what is required, that has drawn us to smart lighting.

I am a lazy so in so, and to be able to dim lights without getting out of my chair seems in the main a good thing. However, not always, google Nest has when asked to turn on one lamp, reported back turning on nine items, and one thinks oh know, what has it turned on now, time to get phone out and turn them off again.

Google Home tells me, I have 37 lights, and 9 climate items it can control, and I am not too sure what they all are.

I have plenty of smart bulbs & smart plugs connected to lighting. Great set them for certain times of day on & off at night at pre set times. Remember resetting timers, changing them when clocks changed. So easy now. I remember before tvs had remotes..lol
