Is this mold under my kitchen tiles?

Hi,

I recently bought a home, built in 1997. The kitchen floor tiles were all cracked due to the previous owners being a bit heavy handed when they moved out.

I've started to pull up the tiles (ceramic?) And under a few of them I've found some black residue that I initially thought was mold. Having searched I've seen varying answers such as mold, mastic and mastic with asbestos, but I'm really not sure what it is so I don't know how careful I should be.

I've scrubbed the stuff with water, youll see a before and after picture below. Found more today under another tile so I wanted to query it.

Can anybody provide some insight? I have a pregnant wife and as this is in the kitchen (currently covered over with plastic covering) I don't want to risk anything.

Appreciate any help I can get!

Does not look like mold! Looks like it is something that has been applied to floor, what exactly would be impossible to say by photos.
